John Kidda, Owner of reNew Home, Inc., approached me about rebuilding his website into a format that would be much more user-friendly, and mobile responsive. He had originally designed the site in GoDaddy’s Website Builder.
After lengthy discussions with John, I knew focusing on the value John’s services provide to homeowners and home builders in the High Country area would be key. I was fortunate enough to also have services done on my home to improve the overall thermal comfort. When John was here for a consultation it was immediately evident just how knowledgeable he was on Home Performance Improvement issues.
I knew I was in good hands then, and designing his website afforded me the opportunity to demonstrate John’s expertise and passion to the High Country area!
Calls to Action
The most valuable step a visitor can take to improve their home’s performance is by having John perform a Home Performance Assessment. Calls to action for this are bold and clear, and a dedicated footer highlights this as well. In addition, the navigational menu has “Home Performance Assessment” outlined in blue like a button, further emphasizing the action a website visitor should take.
reNew Home focuses on four key components that affect a home’s comfort and livability. I customized vectors purchased online to make them appear as if they were woodcuts.
Animated Bio Pics
A great way to add visual interest on a page is to rotate images with some element tying the string of images together. In this case I used the border element as well as the small square thumbnail to tie images together as they rotate.
Instead of having one page dedicated to FAQs, it’s much more user-friendly to place commonly asked questions with related content.
For example, there are FAQs on the About page related to John and his background and experience, and on the Contact page related to questions John gets a lot.
This way John spends less time answering the same questions repeatedly over the phone or email, and instead focus on service delivery.
Dedicated Photo Galleries
Each service has it’s own gallery of images. Clicking on the image will open in a new lightbox for quick and easy viewing of details related to a particular service.
